Bright young things / aw20

This winter will be unlike any other we’ve had to face.

In these turbulent times - we know you value comfort and quality more than ever. To prepare you for winter, our new collection is timeless and modular, offering flexibility to mix and match. A classic colour palette in rich burgundy, beige and black are refreshed with hints of metallic, coral and blue. Leather and tailoring pair with heritage checks, paisley and nightfall prints for a chic bohemian vibe. Shearling jackets, cosy knitwear and double-breasted overcoats layer up making outfits ideal for cold walks, or laid back lounging.

Contrasting the daily limitations we've faced in 2020, the campaign was inspired by the liberated hedonism enjoyed one hundred years ago by 'The Bright Young Things'; the tabloid nickname given to a group of bohemian English aristocrats from the 1920s. Carefree and exuberant, the collective hosted decadent parties, enjoying life to the excess.

Design Inspirations

We designed this collection in our London studios. We made every style in Europe with our artisan craftsmen who have been as imaginative and creative as ever these last few months. Our production partners have been flexible and without them, none of this would be possible. Thankfully, we have been able to adapt quickly to the year to build in more flexibility to the collection. After all, it seems that anything is possible in 2020.

We’re introducing some new styles for AW20 including small leather goods, boots, trainers, scarves, notebooks and leather jackets and skirts. The lookbook

Enjoy the styles of our AW20 collection in this Lookbook, themed with our first campaign of the season called ‘Bright Young Things’. The campaign was inspired by a group of English aristocrats in the 1920s who led a care-free life of opulence and indulgence. In the Lookbook, you’ll find the names of each style and how we’ve styled them together, on their own or with other styles we all find in our wardrobes.

Our feature film tells the story of the Truth and the Lie - an escapist fantasy and a metaphor for the confusion, isolation and desperation of the post-truth world and the anxiety so many have felt this year.

We shot this campaign in a traditional English Stately Home that was originally built in the 1700s and has been enjoyed by the same family for over 150 years. We’re truly grateful to the family for allowing us to film in their beautiful home over 3 days in Oxfordshire.

Made in Europe

We made every style in our AW20 Collection in Europe. We work with family owned fabric mills in Italy, Turkey and Portugal to supply us with the finest natural fabrics. We made this collection with sustainable wool, leather, organic cotton and EU Certified sustainable fabrics such as Tencel and Ecovero.

We’ve hand picked our production partners for their craft, attention to detail and dedication to quality. Every stitch, seam and join is expertly crafted for the finest fit and feel. We love working with family owned factories because they take a pride in their work not found in corporate production facilities. Many of the technicians who work in the factories have years of experience of producing garments and accessories.

Behind the scenes

We shot this campaign over 3 days in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside in one of the most historic stately homes in England. Originally built in the 1700s, the house and estate has been owned by the same family for over 150 years. The Grade I listed architecture and period features make it a unique location that supported perfectly our artistic vision for this campaign. We are profoundly grateful to the family for allowing us to shoot with our crew of 10 over a few days.

We produced this campaign in house, using our own creative team of designers, stylists, hair and make-up artists, photographers and videographers. Special thanks to our Head of Creative Michael Higham and Head of Video Rodrigo Belasquem. Styles were modelled by Ndhey Manneh, Charlotte Rose and Miki Davies. Hair and makeup was by Francesca Willingham. We shot most pieces from the AW20 collection, but not all. Instead, we focused on those styles that are the most evocative of the spirit of the collection. We made this small film to take you behind the scenes on our shoot. Enjoy.
