Michael Higham
Michael runs the Creative team at Saint and Sofia, managing a talented team of creatives across videography, photography, editing, styling and design. Previously, Michael was part of the brand team at Caffe Nero, creating content and managing the assets of one of the largest consumer brands in the UK with sales over £366ml.
Michael joined us in November 2018 to oversee story telling at Saint and Sofia. He’s an award winning creative with experience of shooting and managing productions in the UK, Europe and Internationally. Previously, he worked as a Senior Digital Producer role at one of Europe’s largest coffee companies, Caffè Nero. There, he led the creation of the digital content for the brand on a global level across nine territories for in-store and above the line brand campaigns. This position has seen him shoot both reportage style and product focused for the brand in multiple countries; including Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. His work can be seen within stores and marketing point-of-sale around the world, including Sweden, Cyprus, Poland and Turkey.
Michael has always had a passion for fashion photography, first picking up a camera after being inspired by the overindulgent photographic style of fashion photographer David LaChapelle. He studied Media Production at Lincoln University, graduating with First-Class Honours in 2011. There, he specialised in documentary and fashion photography; inspired by the works of photographers such as Rankin, Rosie Hardy, Lara Jade and Tim Walker. Whilst working on a freelance basis with multiple brands, Michael has also shot multiple weddings; opting for a more candid photographic style in order to perfectly capture genuine moments.
Born within a military household, Michael spent much of his childhood traveling. This nomadic lifestyle allowed for an appreciation of diversity and change; which ultimately fed into his photographic style. This disdain for complacency has allowed him to embrace new styles and techniques, welcoming resourceful ways to adapt to capture the perfect image.
When he’s not busy writing about himself in third person, Michael enjoys traveling, slowly ticking off an ever-growing wish-list of countries to visit. He cooks a mean spaghetti carbonara and in his spare time can usually be found inspiration hunting; be that wandering around any new exhibitions at The Tate Modern or simply style sourcing around London.
Michael was also a finalist in Caffe Nero's Barista of the Year Competition (although his favourite coffee is a Caramel Frapuccino from Starbucks).
